Bless the Rains in Tamandaré!!; Mission Week 46; Area: Almirante Tamandare

Another week has passed and now I tell about my adventures…

🌄 Almirante Tamandaré
It is a wonderful small city to the Northwest of Curitiba. There it is very hilly, but image that the hills are almost mountains…that's where I am. It's wonderful, it's humble, and I already love it. This week it rained the whole time and man let me tell ya I truly missed the rain. Anyway let me get into some more specific details.

👨‍👨‍👦‍👦 Companions
As I stated last week I am 1 in 4 missionaries, but truly only have one companion Elder Rodrigues. He is a great brasillian companion from Ceará and we get along very well together. We have very similar personalities and I have a huge respect for him. He is very obedient and diligent and has become one of my good friends. Now the other two are amazing as well. Elder Toronto is a nut from Arizona who channels so much spirit and insanity at the same time. I both learn so much from him at the same time that I am laughing hard. He is a wonderful and hard-working missionary with a great sense of humor. Lastly, Elder Peterson the man himself. With only 4 months on the mission under his belt he is a machine. He is also from Arizona and cracked at the piano. He has a ton of positive energy and such a high potential to become an amazing missionary. Plus his cookies are to die for. They are always so good that it's like an addiction for Elder Rodrigues who is always begging for Elder Peterson to make more cookies. These are my companions whom I love and cherish.

🌊 Baptisms!
So when I showed up we learned about this lady who lives in our area and was invited to be baptized from a missionary from another ward and area. Well she started going to church there while being taught by some Sisters online while also receiving messages from us. The whole week was preparing for her baptism…but we didn't know where it was going to take place because she lived in our area and so should be baptized here, but she wanted to be baptized there and it was a bit of a mess. So what ended up happening was she got baptized in another ward and got confirmed here, by us. Yeah it was funny we left our area to baptize her and her son and then Sunday they were confirmed in church. It was an amazing time and everything went right.

🧉 Random things:
- Elder Toronto fell into a hole full of dirty muddy water and so we had to return home to unlock the house for them.

- Almost got bit a dog again but Elder Rodrigues swung his bag in front of the dog and I grabbed and threw a rock at it. From then on I have always walked with my umbrella in my hand just in case.

- Did a division with Elder Gouveia where we taught a family of 8 and invited 3 people to be baptized and they accepted.

- Elder Rodrigues got sick Sunday afternoon and so I did online work for 4 hours and I was dead afterwards.

- Got all the Elders addicted to Granola with Oat milk which I got from Elder Jenkins

Curitiba, here I am. Goodbye Ponta Grossa; Mission Week 45; Area: Almirante Tamandare

Well, here I am. On a van, headed to a place that I don't know and that I don't understand.

Time flies by as I stare at the sky thinking about all the goodbyes.
The grand memories and the companion histories, left in the areas where I used to be.
From District to Zone, I’m walking the unknown, glad that I’m not all alone
Almirante Tamandaré, here I come, here I'll stay, leading each and every day, what more do I have to say
So here I am, on a van, headed to a place that I don't know and that I don't understand

The Last Week

Well, this past week was my last week in Ponta Grossa. Honestly, I had a feeling that I would leave, but I truly didn't want to. I began my mission there and hit 10, nearly 11 months there. It honestly feels like leaving home because I got to know so many people there and I had everything memorized in the part of the city I was in. I created so many friendships and bonds with many people and now it's time to finally move on to another city. This week was a good week where I had the opportunity to say goodbye to many people in different areas. We had a family home evening with the Lüders one night. I got to talk with the Udagawas for a time as well. I also got to pass and visit many other great families in all the areas I passed in, and I am forever grateful for all of it. We also left many times with Luiz Thiago who I will miss greatly. He truly made a great impact on my mission.

New Responsibilities

Well, with this change, I will not be finishing Elder Slaugh's training which is sad. I was called to serve as a Zone Leader in Almirante Tamandaré where I will take care of even more missionaries. Yeah, I don't know what to say other than that and that I'm a little nervous haha. Luckily I'll be with another Zone Leader named Elder Rodrigues. Apparently he and I are similar so we shall see…

I'm in Tamandaré

So, as of adding this,+ I have been in Almirante Tamandaré for a few hours now so… basically its a smaller city to the north of Curitiba and so I am still not truly in Curitiba, just close. Anyway, my Zone is straight through the middle of Curitiba so I'll have many opportunities to visit many areas. In my area there are 4 of us Elders. Elder Rodrigues, Elder Toronto, Elder Peterson, and I are all in a house not an apartment for the first time! It's kinda cool, but we shall see how long that thought lasts haha. Anyway, the city is nice and I'll really explore it more this week. I'm actually very excited now to see all that will happen this week.

Oh I forgot that we had a baptism after a soccer tournament where our ward won 3rd place it was awesome!

If you want to know anything just ask and I'll send an email your way! That's basically it!

Hairless dogs, Korean Drama and a Wand; Mission Weeks 43 & 44; Area: Dalcol; Ponta Grossa, PR Brasil

Hey! Not too much time this P-Day so here is the quick update!

We had a baptism this past Sunday! Our friend João Victor received the Priesthood of God and had the incredible opportunity to baptize his friend Eduardo!! It was hilarious because the water was really cold and Eduardo was shaking, but he absolutely loved it. After we had the church meeting and then after everything we ate cake. It was just a great Sunday!

Random events

- The Quórum President Luis Rojas made Harry Potter wands by hand and gave it to us it is really cool.

- Got yelled at by a random old guy who said we were thieves and that if we ever hit his house again he would shoot us...

- We hit a green house and 8 sickly/some hairless dogs come out of the house one at a time barking. Following the dogs came this really old Lady who called her neighbors drug dealers and devil worshippers before giving us a 3 liter bottle of Guarana...gave it away to someone else

- Got trapped on a bus for 6 hours on the drive back from Curitiba. Trying to talk with everyone in the District with spotty internet because everyone was having problems.

- Performed a service project for a member where we cleaned out her yard. It was great and after we had a great lunch.

- We might gain the title of Wedding Planner here because we have an amazing couple that wants to get married and get baptized, and we will have to work with them to plan it all out. Let's see how that goes.

- Korean Drama are the newest hit here...don't ask me why I truly don't know, but it seems like every other house we get into is watching a Korean Drama of some sort. One night we did a family home evening with the Lüders and when we got there they were watching a Korean Drama called "True Beauty". It's not bad just strange, LOL

Anyway that's basically it for the 2 weeks here are some pictures:
